WE TEACH YOU HOW TO TEACH YOUR DOG TO DO WHAT YOU WANT YOUR DOG TO DO AND HAVE YOUR DOG WANT TO DO IT USING POSITIVE, NON-FORCE BASED TECHNIQUES.
We help owners better understand their dog’s temperament type and learning curve, where the animal is socially and emotionally, and how best to prepare for the different developmental phases dogs go through.
Services begin with an initial phone intake session. The intake is used to gather information to best understand the main issues for your call. From this information a treatment plan is developed. The treatment plan includes problem behavior(s), frequency/trigger for the problem behavior, goals (add, reduce or eliminate the behavior by replacing it with a desired behavior) and the all important technique. At A Better Pet LLC emphasis is on positive reinforcement clicker training. We first teach owners how to identify what, in their mind, is a well behaved companion animal, and then teach the owners how to train their dog using positive, non force based methods. This method is not only fun but also enhances the human animal bond.
TRAINING METHODS
Our training methods are gentle, straight forward and easy to use by people of all ages and abilities. We teach and encourage the use of Clicker Training, an easy-to-learn and effective technique for communicating.
Clicker training is not absolutely required to benefit greatly from our services, but it helps! While used for years with marine mammals, research animals, and in a variety of commercial projects, clicker training has only recently taken the dog world by storm.
Clicker Training is simple to learn and, with practice and timing, is a powerful and effective training method from early puppyhood through senior years. We provide free clickers with training and offer a number of other invaluable training tools.
For more detailed information about clicker training, go to Clicker Solutions or go to any search engine and type in "clicker training dogs".
We also teach pet and owner-directed service dog training.
